Hi XC skiers,
So you're probably out biking, running or playing pickleball now that it's April and XC skiing is mostly over in Washington. FYI, Mt. Bachelor (OR) Nordic Center is open this week. I don't know if they gave their last grooming day decision yet. I'll be there XC skiing this Thursday through Monday so let me know if you want to ski together!
I promise to make more Schreckski YouTube teaching videos for you at Bachelor. Hopefully it will be sunny!
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, I will be in a two day instructor teaching session with my instructor friends. This is to maintain my training and PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) credentials. Hopefully I will learn some new jokes!
As you switch gears to Spring sports, I want to thank you for trusting me to help you improve your XC skiing skills. My 2026/27 website Schreckski.com is up and running. Intermediate/Advanced Skate Sundays and Wednesdays are filling up first in January. Lots of beginning/intermediate skier slots so invite your friends!
Note that I have made a small change to my usual schedule. Mondays' lessons are beginning to intermediate SKATE XC skiers only. Thursdays are beginning to intermediate CLASSIC XC skiers only. Both are at Hyak SnoPark. This is so I don't have to change equipment between classes. The new Hyak SnoPark teaching area with hills and turns really helps our Hyak XC beginner/intermediate ski lessons. The other days of the week are the same and at Crystal Springs SnoPark.
My 26/27 XC ski season calendar is on the website if you're interested. I only raised single lesson and single skier lesson prices a tiny bit (the same discounts and prices on two-pack and four-pack Multiple XC Skier lessons).
Multiple XC skier two and four day lessons are the same discounted price and more economical per skier so convince your partner, sibling or a friend to join you! A One day lesson is not enough time for beginning skiers to learn to love winter by XC skiing; so I want to encourage multiple lessons. The single lesson students don't seem to come back.
So wax your skis and leave it on until next season; also, keep up your ski dances, your outdoor CV routines and strength training!
