Thanks for a great XC ski season and hanging in there when we almost stopped mid February!

Hi Skiers,

First thank you for trusting me to help you improve your XC skiing technique. I especially appreciate those before Snowmaghedden who had to reschedule due to lack of snow and no grooming.

About once a decade, we have a challenging snow year. This was one of them. We were due as the last bad season was 2014/15 winter season. Before that, it was 98/99. Hopefully next season will be better for you and me!

Even with less days to teach, I taught 60 days this season and only on 10 days did we need to reschedule. In total, I had 170 students so thanks to each of you. I still have openings for Thursday Classic, Wednesday Skate and Sunday Skate this week. All are at Hyak SnoPark (for better grooming and snow cover.) It was perfect grooming yesterday, Monday at Hyak. Like a perfect January day with a hard frost and sunshine 🌞

My Web designer is ready to turn on the update on my website: Schreckski.com for next season. Small changes to the prices for singles and one day lessons. So if you want to sign up for next season at this season's prices, well do it this week. April Fools day, the site and prices/calendar are posted. January Weekends and Mondays are filling up.

Many of you are excited about your Spring sports. Keep up your cardiovascular workouts. If you want to be ready for next season XC skiing, well here's some ideas. Skip if your not interested in improving your XC technique:

  1. Go to my website Schreckski.com. As there are links to my YouTube teaching videos for skate (15) and classic skiing (10). Put on some socks, spray your wood flooring with Pledge and ski along with me. Like it and subscribe!
  2. Ski bound. Find a good hill with a softer surface: Like Tiger or Cougar Mountain. Using your poles, just bound or run 🏃‍♀️ Try using your poles like you would skiing. Good for upper body and balance.
  3. At a gym 🏋️‍♀️ or with cords at home, do pull downs but on one leg 🦵 or back and forth mimicking a specific ski technique. Do squats, dead lifts, etc. Compound exercises that work your key muscles in core, legs and upper back. These can be single leg exercises for balance.
  4. Rollerskiing or Rollerblading, both with poles. Be safe! A quiet cul-de-sac or bike trail with padding on every part of your body you want safe: helmet, gloves, elbow, knee and pelvis pads!
  5. Okay Schreck, I have a real job/career and kids! None of that works in my busy schedule.

So here's something that takes no extra time. When you brush your teeth twice a day, ski! Balance on one 🦵 at a time. It works and takes no extra time! Best use of 2 minutes for you!
